St. Joseph's Hospital is committed to promoting and supporting colleague education with the goals of ensuring competency and efficiency and fostering advancement. We recognize that to ensure the best patient care, we must develop the talents of our staff through education and experience.
Opportunities include:
- Life Safety Certifications (BLS, ACLS, PALS, Basic EKG, CCCI), First Aid/Safety and Heart Saver and Family and Friends CPR
- Job-specific CMEs
- LEAN training for managers and staff-level employees
- Up to $2,500 per year in educational assistance
- Advanced training within specific disciplines, either through on-the-job-training or off-site educational opportunities
Lights for Scholarship
The generous Auxiliary members of St. Joseph's Hospital in Breese work hard to help local health care students with their studies. Nearly 300 future providers have received a portion of approximately $150,000 in grants that have been distributed since 1970. The money is raised through "Lights for Scholarship" activities, including an annual mailing and walkathon. Each grant is presented in memory or honor of a hospital volunteer during the Auxiliary's annual meeting. Many recipients have returned to serve the hospital as nurses, physicians, pharmacists, therapists and technicians.
