In every interaction, with our patients, families and one another, we live the values of Respect, Care, Competence and Joy. More than providing clinical services, we make an emotional connection to our patients that's rooted in compassion, respect and genuine care.
Another way we put our values into action is through community outrearch programs and social accountability. Some examples include:
The American Cancer Society's Loan Closet at A Woman's Place provides wigs, scarves, turbans, hats and breast prostheses for individuals living with the side effects of cancer treatments. In addition, the Look Good...Feel Better program offers information and guidance from specially trained cosmetologists to help cancer patients enhance their appearance.
Working with women and families of the rapidly growing Latino population in northeastern Wisconsin, this program provides classes, screenings, resources and referrals, including breast self-exam, domestic violence information, diabetes care and cardiovascular risks information.
Through our Family Birthing Center, St. Mary's sends specially trained nurses into the homes of newborns to educate families, provide early intervention for medical problems, assess newborn nutrition and identify areas where further assistance may be beneficial.
St. Mary's Hospital has been a leader and an early member of Practice Greenhealth, the nation's leading health care networking organization, committed to sustainable, eco-friendly practices to improve the health of patients, staff and the environment. The hospital has received multiple awards for its significant and enduring impact.
